Yah! I just finished my self portrait at 5:00 pm today! It's too large for my scanner, so I'll be going to the Art Institute on Monday to use their large scanners. This is probably the fastest I've ever done a portrait, and it turned out really well (could use more contrast though). Anyways, I'm adopting a new policy of "aggressive deviationism" to force myself to take every sketch and work seriously. My first goal is one deviation a week, then I'll step it up (maybe I'll get to 3 deviations a week!). I have been inspired recently by a book titled "The Skillful Huntsman." It's a book authored by a professional concept artist and his three greatest students that documents the entire design process a team of professionals would take to create characters/vehicles/scenery for a movie or game (etc.). This book is amazing, by far the best book I have ever seen on this topic (and I have 23 how-to art books, so that's saying something). I definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone! Until Monday!
